Since 1991, ESTECH’s core service-based business has been integrated electronic security systems, consisting of video surveillance, intrusion detection, access control, fire detection and life safety. Our design, engineering, installation, integration and maintenance services have been provided to federal and state governments, as well as numerous major defense contractors, a variety of corporations and large and small businesses. ESTECH proudly serves the Greater Washington D.C. Metropolitan area and has been growing across the Mid-Atlantic region for more than two decades.
ESTECH in many ways is the technical portion of electronic security solicitations. Upon request, we have also supervised the installation of the integrated systems we design. ESTECH has steadfastly maintained its independence from the security manufacturers and partners we have worked with, and from the major corporations we have sub contracted for. This has allowed ESTECH to be an objective solutions provider, bringing our expertise to the forefront of designing and installing exactly the right systems for the specific application.
Within ESTECH’s first years of operation, our team has designed and installed systems for the "Bob Dole for President" campaign headquarters and the traveling exhibition of the Turkish Crown Jewels for the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. Over the past decade ESTECH has designed systems for the US Army, the Virginia State Police Executive Protection Unit, General Dynamics’ world corporate headquarters, and much more. ESTECH’s engineers and integrators have worked around the globe in extreme environments and under unique circumstances, and we bring all that knowledge and experience to every project.
In the spring of 2007, ESTECH was front and center in the installation, integration and operation of the advanced CCTV system still in use at the State Capitol in Richmond, VA, during the “Royal Welcome” for Queen Elizabeth II of England. By launching the architecture for that system in such a high-profile environment ESTECH demonstrated its abilities to work with multiple entities and jurisdictions in a live environment on crucial areas of electronic security technology.
Throughout 2008, ESTECH designed and supervised the installation of an integrated platform for a 250,000 sq. ft. LEED Certified refrigerated warehouse for Guest Services, of Fairfax, Virginia. In addition to security, surveillance and life safety, ESTECH incorporated all of the building operating systems into one cohesive notification system. This included the design and implementation of an evacuation and mustering program, providing first responders real time information upon arrival.
E.T. Smith, the founder of ESTECH, is a Vietnam veteran who served with the US Army Security Agency. He is also a retired Washington, D.C. Police Officer. The corporation began as an electronic security and surveillance maintenance services company for federal agencies. Realizing the need in the federal community for effective security and surveillance, E.T. Smith combined his expertise in electronic security and his skills as an experienced law enforcement professional to design and install systems for a wide variety of applications.
Mike Smith serves as ESTECH’s Vice-President, and has recently returned to the position after more than five years with ManTech International Corporation. From parts expert to Senior Integrator and VP, Mike was and still is a senior or lead technician on several projects already mentioned. Mike spent more than three years as a Senior Integrator with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, where he finalized electronic security projects at facilities around the world. Mike’s work has taken him to more than 25 countries on five continents including India, Bosnia, Turkey, Mexico, and Afghanistan plus four trips to Africa. He is also experienced as an ISO business and production processes and standards auditor.
